Hellenic Army Academy

HAA Superintendent’s Welcome

I welcome you on our Academy’s website, hoping that your  browsing will be useful and pleasant.

The Hellenic Army Academy is the oldest academic institution of Greece, since it was founded in 1828 by Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of Greece. Since then, our Academy has constituted the birthplace of the Hellenic Army’s leaders in all of our country’s national liberation wars as well as those for the defense of its territorial integrity and national independence. I should also highlight the significant number of Cadets who fell in various battlefields, defending the honor and dignity of Greece.

Our Academy has gone through various changes in its organization and function, during its long-standing history, in order to respond to its very demanding role and maintain its prestigious position amongst the rest of our country’s academic institutions. Nowadays, it consists a unique entity where academic education and military training coexist efficiently and effectively, so as to provide our Cadets with all required qualifications for becoming great military leaders. One should notice that the cornerstone of the Academy’s training mission is the cultivation of the Hellenic Army’s established military virtues, such as patriotism, bravery, resilience, military spirit and discipline. Those virtues galvanize the heart and soul of our Cadets and future Officers, making them able to overcome any kind of difficulties, both during their studies in the Academy and after their graduation, throughout their career.

This is, in short, the Hellenic Army Academy, “a reservoir of heroes and virtue, where decency, modesty and social solidarity are combined with bravery, discipline and the sense of duty”, as Konstantinos Tsatsos, the former President of the Hellenic Republic, vividly noticed.

Hoping that our website will meet your expectations, I would like to welcome you, once again, and thank you for your interest in our Academy.
